    Today's guest is Paul Gray of Omdia. Paul leads Omdia’s home devices research, which spans television sets, smart homes, consumer electronics, and domestic appliances. His main research area is TV sets, focusing on the European region, broadcast technology, smart TV, and new TV features. Paul is also heavily engaged in researching the development of the Ultra HD ecosystem. Paul first joined Omdia more than 15 years ago. With over 30 years of experience in the TV set supply chain working for NXP and Philips in semiconductors and displays, Paul continues to research the TV business. Among others, Paul has been cited by the Financial Times, Korea Times, Korea Daily, Nikkei, and Le Monde. Paul holds a degree in electrical engineering and a diploma in industrial studies.

    In this episode, Paul and Brian talked about how the viewing experience is more important than specsmanship, lifestyle effects on viewing patterns, differences between the European markets versus North America, what vinyl records have in common with displays, and the fact that viewers watch content, not screens.

    Today’s guest is Dr. Eric Virey. In this episode, Eric and Brian discussed Mini-LED and especially MicroLED displays. Eric serves as a Senior Display Market and Technology Analyst at Yole Développement. Since 2009, Eric has contributed to numerous custom projects in the LED, sapphire and display industries and has authored multiple market reports. Eric has spoken at more than 25 industry conferences and has been interviewed or quoted by: The Wall Street Journal, CNN, Fox News, CNBC, Bloomberg, Forbes, MIT’s Technology Review, and Photonic Spectra. Prior to Yole, he held various R&D, engineering, manufacturing and marketing positions with Saint-Gobain in France and the United States. Eric received his PhD in Optoelectronics from the National Polytechnic Institute of Grenoble.
