S2 Ep1: The Future of Cycling with Fabian Cancellara, Axel Merckx & more
With every race season the age of the professional rider entering the WorldTour peloton is getting younger and younger but at the same time, the demands are getting higher with a packed racing schedule as well as the level of professionalism ever increasing. So, we caught up with two legends of the peloton, Fabian Cancellara & Axel Merckx to discuss this in more detail and how their two teams fit into this landscape, namely Tudor Procycling and the renowned Axeon Hermans Berman.  To do this, presenters Jonty Camp and Phil Gale are joined by Axel Merckx, owner of Axeon Hagens Berman cycling team, as well as two of his riders, Darren Rafferty & Michael Garrison, to tell us what it’s like to be part of one of the most illustrious feeder teams on the circuit.  We then head off to the start of Milan San Remo where we speak with Fabian Cancellara about his Tudor Pro Cycling project and their plans for the future. Whilst there we pose questions to team CEO Raphael Meyer, about what makes a WorldTour team, the logistics and nurturing of the talent. We then speak to Tom Bohli who is a star rider on the Tudor Pro Cycling team about his journey through the WorldTour peloton.  New for this season is our Riders Diary feature, in the first episode, we have Michael Schär from AG2R CITROËN TEAM. He sends us an audio diary of the days leading up to and after Paris-Roubaix sharing details about his prep, how to attack the cobbles  as well as some stories from inside the heart of the Queen of the Classics.    Be sure to follow our different social media channels to stay up to date with everything happening here at BMC, as well as catch content from behind the scenes with our different Teams and Athletes.
