201. AI for Dancers and Choreographers
If you think artists (like choreographers and dancers) will be the last to be affected (read: taken out) by AI, this episode is for you. Thanks to my work with the Choreographers Guild, I am learning a lot about artificial intelligence and what it means for dancers and choreographers. This week, I’m sharing (almost) everything I’ve learned so the dance community can have an empowered voice in the conversation about AI. We get into terminology, some heartening news, some scary potential futures, and I demystify AI concepts with the help of dance world metaphors… YAY!

So in love with this podcast
The title says it all (but I’ll say a bit more😉) Your podcast has brought me so much comfort and inspiration during a difficult time of life and the ever-challenging journey of dance (specifically becoming a professional dancer in this era), so thank you for all you (and the team) do to keep it alive.
I have a long commute from my home to my weekly dance classes and I love whenever I get to listen to a new episode. Resources like this are so important for dancers, especially those new to the professional dance scene. Thank you isn’t enough!!!🤍
All the goods!
There are many gems to be found in these episodes.
One I specifically want to point out was in Max Pham’s episode. They were talking about living in hotels and on busses and how it can be exciting at first. Our home has personal photos and all the things we love, but hotels are a clean slate. Sometimes it’s nice to clear the clutter and refresh.
However, when this happens time after time, this blank slate starts to replace that personal touch your home has. Which is why it’s so important to keep a strong emotional and mental practice while on the road to keep you grounded in your best self.
These aren’t the exact words used, but the concept really spoke to me and it was an ‘ah-ha’ moment.
Thank you Dana and all the quest for sharing so much about your journeys and lessons!
Every dancer should listen!!!
I cannot stress this enough, every dancer should listen to this podcast, no matter which stage of your career you are in. Dana is an excellent host and such a well respected teacher in the industry. As an auditioning dancer, I find a lot of what is shared on this podcast helpful for me in my everyday life as an artist finding her way….especially the “Show and Prove” approach. I have also incorporated noting my “wins” on both a daily and weekly basis. There is so much knowledge and self love lessons to be learned here, in an industry that has no guide book. Love it!
10/10 would recommend.
