I feel like a lot of you do: Politically homeless. Spiritually thirsty. Financially and relationally fragile. Life in the mid-21st century has left many of us feeling lost and yearning for belonging. You're not alone. To make sense of our moment, I talk with writers, historians, educators, innovators, friends, and family about current events, political philosophy, history, family, and faith to strive for change — within ourselves, our communities, and our nation. I examine news and culture from a Christian libertarian perspective to understand today's divisions. From there, I want to envision a more optimistic and prosperous tomorrow through political and cultural action that embraces mercy. Subscribe to be a part of something different.

What Happens When a Public School Models Itself on Homeschooling Principles? On Purdue Polytechnic High School

Purdue Polytechnic High School is a revolutionary model of learning that promotes student interest-guided, project-based education. I am joined by Drew Gooden, a coach from the school, and Mark Boykin, a sophomore student. They provide insights into the school's operations, teaching methods, and successful outcomes of the school launched by the famed University. We dive into how this model empowers students to control their educational journey, preparing them for a future of potential jobs that may not yet exist.

Abolitionist Founding Father John Rankin's Courage To Speak the Truth with Caleb Franz

Abolitionist Founding Father John Rankin's Courage To Speak the Truth with Caleb Franz

Caleb Franz is the host of Profiles in Liberty and author of "The Conductor: The Story of Rev. John Rankin, Abolitionism's Essential Founding Father," and he joins us to discuss Rankin's Presbyterian upbringing in the South, his passionate opposition to slavery, and the influential letters he wrote to his brother, which sparked a broader public dissection of the institution of slavery. These writings, akin to 'The Federalist Papers' of abolitionism, played a crucial role in shaping the abolitionist movement, impacting figures like William Lloyd Garrison and Harriet Beecher Stowe. Franz also explores Rankin's challenges, including physical threats and societal opposition, underscoring his importance as a unifying figure whose efforts transcended abolitionism. The episode delves into Franz's book's origin and evolution, Rankin's legacy's impact, and the importance of acknowledging the contributions of figures lost to history.

What Happens When Crime Overtakes Your Neighborhood? Joe Garrison Explains How He Fought Back

What Happens When Crime Overtakes Your Neighborhood? Joe Garrison Explains How He Fought Back

For years on this program, we've said that the best way to make change in our area is through something other than government action or even through starting a business... It is through a voluntary organization like a nonprofit. After a friend was killed in his neighborhood, Joe Garrison and a few other neighbors formed the North Shadeland Alliance to find ways to quell crime. In the process, they also built community, aided hungry neighbors, and built political power to get the attention of once-inattentive city officials. It was far easier than expected, and this story will greatly inspire listeners.

We Found Good Things In the Libertarian Party

We Found Good Things In the Libertarian Party

Harry Price and I went to the Libertarian Party of Indiana's convention this weekend, and we were skeptical we'd find anything good happening there, considering how disappointing the LP appears to be online. We were surprised by the elected officials, party organizers, and candidates we talked to, and I think you will be as well. Take a peak at some good things happening in the Libertarian Party.

The Supreme Court Considers Social Media Its Right To Political Discrimination

The Supreme Court Considers Social Media Its Right To Political Discrimination

The U.S. Supreme Court recently heard arguments on the controversial issue of whether or not social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter can discriminate based on political affiliation. Abdul-Hakim Shabazz invited me on his program to give the libertarian perspective on property rights versus the common good when it comes to free speech, and the potential consequences of regulating social media like a utility or common carrier, the importance of physical, interpersonal connection in the age of AI, and the future of legal challenges on this issue.
