ANMA

Rooster Teeth

Rooster Teeth started over 20 years ago, and two of its creators want to get together every week to talk about their journeys, reminisce, and lament the Austin Texas that used to be. Gustavo Sorola & Geoff Ramsey, two of the masterminds behind hits like Red vs Blue & Achievement Hunter, monetize their conversations for your benefit. read less

Our Editor's Take

The two hosts of the ANMA podcast share a genuine love and passion for Austin, Texas. Both are in their late 40s, but they remember the first time they set foot in the city like it was yesterday. Gustavo Sorola was 19 years old when he moved to the area. Geoff Ramsey was only 18. Back then, it was a cool, indie artists' town. People referred to it as "the velvet ditch" because it was too comfortable to leave once they arrived. It was cheap and welcoming.

Austin has become more and more popular. Over the years, the city doubled its residents. It went from a place where everyone knew each other to a destination city for creatives. The two hosts spent their formative adult years there and experienced those radical changes. A big part of starting the ANMA podcast was to talk about the good times. They wanted to share with the world what living in the city's golden era was like. They wanted to memorialize that period for future generations. They also wanted a space to debate the changes.

In each episode of the ANMA podcast, Gus and Geoff meet in a different Austin establishment. They go to bowling alleys and burger joints. They hop around their city's favorite coffee shops. At each stop, they chat a little about their lives and the TV shows and music they enjoy the most. More often, they speak about the great city around them. Some talks are about Austin's weird incidents, like a murdered clown, and train accidents. Other discussions are about pawn shops, preferred Italian restaurants, or recent building work. They complain about the new and feel nostalgic about how things used to be.

New and old residents of Austin might enjoy learning more about their city with the ANMA podcast. The show is also for people outside the area who like learning about a city. Most of all, it is a podcast where two buddies celebrate their long-running friendship. New episodes debut each week.
