As much as us podcasters claim to know about our topics, nobody knows a team better than the voice. The one who travels with them, gets to know the players, and be around them when the public may not be. And it’s with that in mind that we bring aboard today’s Across The Cavs guest. Rafa Hernandez-Brito has long been one of the most recognizable voices in the sports world. He’s the only one to call the NBA Finals, World Series, Stanley Cup Final, and Super Bowl in Spanish. As a collective fandom, the Cleveland Cavaliers are very fortunate to have him on board. We’re talking all things current Cavs, Marcus Morris, the team’s recent run, and being on the mic for some incredible moments in today’s edition.  And with Friday being Noche Latina in Cleveland and this being the first year ever with NBA games broadcast in Spanish on Telemundo… some very much due shoutouts. Donovan Mitchell and Max Strus might be out, but the Cavs are continuing to persist, trying to hold down the #3 seed in the Eastern Conference. LET’S GO. #LetEmKnow.  Check out Across The Cavs on Social Media: LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/company/acrossthecavs?trk=public_post_reshare_feed-actor-name Twitter: @AcrossCavs IG: @AcrossTheCavs --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/across-the-cavs/support
When you talk Cleveland Cavaliers, Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland are generally the first two names that would come to mind. Injury season is still upon the Cavs, who remain without all of Dean Wade, Evan Mobley, and Max Strus. Tough as they are to see, injuries are still a big part of the game. Jarrett Allen has mostly stepped up when called upon. But after a lackluster performance against Houston on Saturday, there is some added pressure to pick up victories.  If the postseason started today, the Wine & Golders would be meeting Indiana in the first round. They are no strangers to playoff get-togethers, and it would be quite the spectacle if this wound up being the battle. On this night, the clutch play of Caris LeVert and Isaac Okoro, combined with some fantastic Georges Niang defense, was enough. Marcus Morris had himself a debut to remember. And down three starters and being plagued by a Darius Garland off-night, the visitors banded together and pulled it out. Jeffrey Santa, co-host of The Cleveland Pulse is joining today as we look into the recent stretch by the Cavs, the Morris debut, the win tonight, and a few other topics too. As always, it’s time to #LetEmKnow.  Check out Across The Cavs on Social Media: LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/company/acrossthecavs?trk=public_post_reshare_feed-actor-name Twitter: @AcrossCavs IG: @AcrossTheCavs --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/across-the-cavs/support
The night began with #TheLand playing some more impressive basketball. They took but three foul shots, but Donovan Mitchell’s return, combined with dominant Darius Garland and Sam Merrill having a career-night was enough to give them a 21-point victory. There are always folks out there with differing opinions on which teams have the best and the worst jerseys. Luckily for those in Cleveland, the Cavaliers seem to have a firm grasp on how to make everything look fire. But in another universe, they have different uniforms. The addition of the new, yearly city edition jerseys have inspired many folks to really hone in on trying to create new concepts. And so it is with that, following Zion Williamson, Brandon Ingram, and the Pelicans taking an impressive drubbing fro the Cavs, that we introduce today’s guest. You can find her @SarahKnowsBall on social, where she’s designing concept jerseys for all of Cleveland’s sports teams. We’re looking in at a few ideas for what the #LetEmKnow brigade could potentially rock.  Of course, the day may come where the team does in fact try to rebrand again, and the ideas are just floating around here.  Time to talk ball.  Check out Across The Cavs on Social Media: LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/company/acrossthecavs?trk=public_post_reshare_feed-actor-name Twitter: @AcrossCavs IG: @AcrossTheCavs --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/across-the-cavs/support
There is never a dull moment with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Whether watching from afar at home, or being in the arena, many will agree with this statement. Donovan Mitchell, Max Strus, and Evan Mobley were not available. It seemed for a moment that Georges Niang might join them on the injured list. Thankfully he rebounded immediately and seemed to be okay. Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen looked like their All-Star selves, and they made sure to keep Anthony Edwards from impacting the game down the stretch. Defense, clutch foul-shooting, and a genuine trust in one another is what propelled Cleveland to this win. Being in attendance for this one made it a little extra special. Let’s get into it. It’s time to #LetEmKnow.    Check out Across The Cavs on Social Media: LinkedIn: https://linkedin.com/company/acrossthecavs?trk=public_post_reshare_feed-actor-name Twitter: @AcrossCavs IG: @AcrossTheCavs --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/across-the-cavs/support
The Cavaliers and Knicks have not met since November 1st, so as they prepare to finally do battle again, there is plenty on the line. Sure, New York has dealt with crazy injuries and they have had to remake not only their depth chart, but their roster as well. But, they have continued to fight their tails off. As the Cavs come in off a win over Detroit, they have been perhaps the best team in the league over these past couple of months. As they continue to showcase their depth and resiliency, there is another chance for Cleveland to make a statement here. A preview of the battle ahead, along with the perception of fanbases from the other side between these two teams that just do not seem to like each other all that much. Let’s do it. Few writers in the basketball world work as hard as Keith Smith. He puts the time in. He makes sure to give the important updates. And he is always right on cue. A pleasure to welcome him on as we talk about the Cavs, the top dogs in the NBA right now, along with a look at some of the names who may be available on the buyout market and who may fit in Cleveland. The new NBA tax rules will make it hard for certain teams to keep all their pieces together without having to forfeit some continuity.  A look at some ball-related topics with the one and only. Here we go. Let’s do it. OHHH. Blocked by James. A phrase that is always refreshing to hear. LeBron James doing what LeBron James did. Another appearance for Carter Rodriguez and Justin Rowan on today’s show. Their podcast, the ChaseDown, is the official podcast of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Always a pleasure getting on the mic with both of these guys. We’re talking recent Cavs and recapping the team’s game with the Wizards. The future of the bench rotation. Why the threes have been down. The upcoming schedule and what these games mean for the team. All of it.  Donovan Mitchell. Darius Garland. Jarrett Allen. Evan Mobley. Isaac Okoro. Sam Merrill. Caris LeVert. Max Strus. Georges Niang. Dean Wade. We’re talking about all of it.  Let’s do it. Yaron Weitzman is extremely well-respected in the basketball community. He wrote a fantastic novel detailing the 76ers and their time with “The Process”. He’s published some incredible work, and always makes a good point. So of course with the Cavs and Sixers set to meet on Friday night, this is the perfect person to bring aboard. Joel Embiid might be out, but Philly has found new life since trading for Buddy Hield. The Knicks defeated them last night. Cleveland took a loss to Orlando. So it will be one of these teams losing a second game in as many days to open out of the All-Star Break. Who wants it more?  Let’s discuss. From Rising Stars on Friday night, to watching the best shooters in the world duking it out on Saturday, there was plenty to like. Stephen Curry vs. Sabrina Ionescu was exactly as advertised. But the dunk contest is clearly in need of some tweaks. There were 397 points scored in the All-Star Game, and it was really never close or competitive. And with that in mind, changes need to be on the horizon. You cannot ask 40-year-old LeBron James to be the hero the game is not asking for next season. But have no fear. A new idea is here. A passionate discourse needs to follow this concept. Because it is certainly a chance to enhance the current model. Buckle up, folks. Emoni Bates (Rising Stars) and Donovan Mitchell (Three-Point Shootout + NBA All-Star Game) will be representing the Cavaliers at All-Star Weekend 2024 in Indy. We’re here to break down all the picks, including the much anticipated three-point shootout between Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu. Between the Skills Challenge, Dunk Contest, Multiple 3-point events, and the games featuring the best young as well as old talent in the game, we should be in for a treat. Buckle up, folks. While the Cleveland Cavaliers opted to stand pat at the 2024 trade deadline, there were moves all across the NBA. With the Knicks adding Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks, with the Bucks beefing up their defense and point guard room with Patrick Beverley. The Sixers will be able to improve their floor spacing with Buddy Hield now in the fold. While not every move has a direct impact on Cleveland, it shifts the league landscape around us.  Time to provide grades on each trade and what this now means as to the state of the teams involved.  Make sure to always #LetEmKnow Check out Across The Cavs on Social Media: LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/acrossthecavs?trk=public_post_reshare_feed-actor-name Twitter: @AcrossCavs IG: @AcrossTheCavs --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/across-the-cavs/support

Across The Cavs S12 E5 (Ep. 187) 🔥Cavs 3 wins in 4 days, All-Star Reserve Reaction, Latest Around the NBA🔥 The Cavs knocked off the Grizzlies on Thursday night for their third win in four days.
