Too Sick talks to video collective and frequent Meow Wolf collaborators Everything Is Terrible! EIT! members Commodore Gilgamesh, Wrong Man, and Ghoul School stopped by during their tour to chat about their video editing styles, movies, and live shows. Bonus subjects include gas station pump videos, the guy who collected Speed VHS's, and contributing to MW's House of Eternal Return.
After a prolonged absence, "Too Sick" returns (however briefly) to bring you this episode with the fabled Mikey Rae, a.k.a., Legit Concerns. You may recognize that name from our episode credits as he has drawn the portraits for each of our episodes. Mikey has recently released a book of the comic drawings he's primarily known for called (which you can purchase at shop.meowwolf.com), and we hope you'll enjoy our wonderfully silly conversation with Mikey and his guitar serenade.
It's the finale of the inaugural season of Too Sick. Vince Kadlubek is the guest:  Founder, visionary, CEO. In this episode we get into his vision for the company, navigating the turbulent waters of funding an immersive experience start-up, and changing the context of reality itself. Heavy, man.
It's a different type of Too Sick episode! It's the same five questions, but this time each one is answered by a different guest: Josh Davisson, Maggie Thornton, Diana Casey, Brandt Peters, and Tuscany Wenger. It's fun! You'll love it.
Arlo Collins has one of the most critically important jobs at Meow Wolf, interacting face to face with our audience as a Visitors Service Admin Assistant at The House of Eternal Return. We discuss parents that lose track of their children, how having money attached to his art isn't for him, and explaining just what the exhibition IS to tourists day in and day out.
The convergence of art and tech is a staple of Meow Wolf exhibitions, and its a combo tech-polymath Wolves has mastered. We have a delightful conversation with Wolves covering everything from Santa Fe culture shock, work life balance, and adapting materials made for adult toys into family friendly interactive art exhibitions.
Quinn is on MW's fabrication team, specializing in using our massive laser cutter. He says that he's "Helping artists manifest their visions through physical fabrication and general construction." BUT he doesn't consider himself an artist. In this episode we get into why Quinn makes that distinction, his penchant for adventuring, and more!
Stavo is many things to many people at Meow Wolf: Organizer, friendly ear, and renowned fire-putter-outter. He keeps the ship that is Meow Wolf's main production facility shipshape. Stavo is also enjoys weaving conversation into fantastical realms of thinking... and this discussion is no exception! ENJOY!
It brings us unmitigated joy to deliver our conversation with Meow Wolf filmmaker West. We discuss the ups and downs of growing as an artist while working for this company. West brings wonder and magic to every film project they touch and this discussion is no exception. Note: At the time of this recording West went by the name Amy.
Join us as we talk to Meason Wiley! He's on Sound Team (which is confusingly not our team) and he's working on a lot of physical pieces that make our exhibitions come alive with music and noise. The stuff he's doing is so awesome it's top secret so we bleep(beep) some stuff but it's still a wonderful conversation.
This episode we have a blast talking with Sofie Cruse about her work designing for Meow Wolf events like Monster Battle and the upcoming Taos Vortex immersive weekend experience.
Editor, rotoscoper, extremely talented voice actor. Is there anything Alec Brown can't do? If there is we don't get into it in this episode.
Future Fantasy Delight, AKA Nico Salazar, makes art that’s like a monochromatic cartoon explosion. As a brand within the brand, FFD both stands-out in and exemplifies Meow Wolf art. Our discussion with Nico takes us through themes of knowing your artistic value, staying true to your vision, and what it’s like to operate independently in a mostly collaborative art collective.
Timber is a Technical Lead on Meow Wolf's Digital Storytelling team. Can you guess what that department does? We get into what, exactly, Digital Storytelling covers, as well as work life balance and Meow Wolf staying true to its DIY roots.
In this episode of Too Sick we sit down with art fabricator Marcus Hunter. Marcus joined our creative studios team after working at House of Eternal Return and has since contributed in creating many amazing pieces for upcoming exhibits. We talk about his penchant for minimalism in his own work, the virtues of striving to be "Too Sick," and how there are no good X-Men video games.
What is a renowned playwright doing clacking away at a desk right outside our studio? Why conceptualizing and expanding the Meow Wolf Story Universe (MWSU) of course! Narrative team lead Kimberly Belflower talks world-building, balancing the success of her personal work with professional work as a very active playwright, and her affinity for “big wild stories.”
Santa Fe artist Cat is on Meow Wolf’s art team where she specializes in sculpture, and here that can mean working with some peculiar materials in strange situations. Too Sick talks to Cat about the three months she spent in Denver working on MW’s newest exhibit, a “dark ride” called “Kaleidescape.” in Elitch Gardens. We discuss what it’s like to work on a build far from home, and how Kaleidescape was both the same and different from past Meow Wolf projects. For more visit MeowWolf.com | Twitter |
In Too Sick’s premiere episode hosts Sarah, Theodore, and Warren talk to one of Meow Wolf’s most beloved figures: Benji Geary. Benji is a founding member of Meow Wolf whose work and ideas have shaped the overall tone and aesthetic of the company’s ever-expanding universe. We discuss how 80s/90s sci-fi and cartoons influenced his dystopian Juvieganger/Mallplex storylines and Benji’s role as Meow Wolf’s “Spiritual Mascot.” For more visit MeowWolf.com | Twitter |
