Description

The Non-Ordinary Podcast is Ronan Levy's sometimes-serious, sometimes-not-so-serious podcast where we plumb the depths of our consciousness, seek to answer the most important questions in life (like why are we here? how do I like the most out of life? what is success?) and try to keep a lively attitude about it all.

Each episode takes us on a deep dive through the issues with academics, entrepreneurs, doctors and gurus to help us on our journey, which is always anything but ordinary.

On this episode of Field Tripping, Ronan is joined by Dr. Carl Hart - neuroscientist, researcher, and best-selling author of "Drug Use for Grown Ups." The two discuss opioid death examinations, psychedelic media coverage and how the definition of a psychedelic is changing. Plus, we chat about drug policy & reform in America – and how Dr. Hart is sickened that drug test kits aren't more accessible.
Joining Ronan this week on Field Tripping is Lauren Taus - a psychedelic therapist trained to work with both psychoactive compounds and plant medicines. The two discuss Burning Man and what the annual event represents, how to fertilize pain to create joy, and Lauren’s path to self love and enlightenment, leading her to work with psychedelics directly. Lauren leads ‘Inbodied Life,’ a group therapy practice, and also offers immersive educational programs for clinicians to learn about psychedelic-assisted therapy and integration in contexts that hold personal healing as essential tools to effective facilitation.
What the heck is quantum mechanics? Ronan is joined by two guests on this episode of Field Tripping — Thomas Lewton, independent science journalist, and Dr. Randy Scharlach, US Medical Director of Field Trip Health & Wellness (and guest from our popular episode “The Taste of a Mango.”) The three discuss the nature of reality, the contemplation of what consciousness is, and where psychedelics fit into this equation.
To celebrate the creation of Field Trip At Home, Nue Life co-founder Juan Pablo Cappello joins Ronan to discuss his upbringing in an indigenous culture, relationship with psychedelic medicine, how he hopes to integrate life teachings into his businesses and why his mom has been a major influence on his path. In addition to founding Nue Life, Juan Pablo was recently named one of the “Most Influential Hispanics” by Poder magazine in the areas of science and technology and was selected as a “Top 50 Entrepreneur” by Business Leader magazine. He is a highly praised entrepreneur who is deeply involved in supporting venture capital in Latin America, and you are sure to be enamored and inspired by his story.
After a trip to Davos, Ronan sits with the organizers of the "Psychedelic Medicine House of Davos," the first ever psychedelic-focused satellite event in conjunction with the World Economic Forum. Event organizers Marik Hazan, Maria Velkova and Maya Albert join Ronan to discuss what it takes to host an international event openly centered around psychedelics – which are still illegal in many countries around the world. The House aimed to shift perspectives, build credibility, and normalize psychedelics as medicines within the epicenter of the international business community. And by most accounts, it was the talk of the town. The team you will meet on this episode is driven, inspiring, and truly helping the world in our "great awakening."Watch all the talks from the Psychedelic Medicine House of Davos here: https://www.altrd.tv/shows/psyched-davos-sessions

Santa Is Psychedelic

Santa Is Psychedelic

2021-12-2119:20

Is it possible that the story of Santa Clause that we all know and love actually originated from ancient winter traditions that revolve around a hallucinatory mushroom? In this special bonus episode, Ronan takes a deep dive into a Christmas tradition of red and white and the theory that Santa's origin story is actually psychedelic. We explore the idea that Father Christmas – and other holiday symbols like flying reindeer, ornaments, and elves – could be traced back to shamans of long ago who brought healing and warmth to an otherwise cold and dark winter solstice. So get ready for a magical trip with Ronan to the North Pole to find out who Santa Clause is and what he's really all about.Feel free to leave Ronan a message with your comments, questions, or just to say hello! https://www.speakpipe.com/fieldtripping or write us an email at fieldtripping@kastmedia.com. Michael is the author of numerous New York Times bestselling books that have made a massive impact throughout the world. His new book, 'This is Your Mind on Plants,' explores our relationship to three specific plant medicines: opium, caffeine, and mescaline. His 2018 book 'How to Change Your Mind' started Pollan on the topic of exploring and researching our relationship with psychoactive substances – and what we can learn from them. So grab a cup of coffee and enjoy this episode!Feel free to leave Ronan a message with your comments, questions, or just to say hello! https://www.speakpipe.com/fieldtripping or write us an email at fieldtripping@kastmedia.com. Brian Muraresku, author of “The Immortality Key,” joins Ronan to discuss how psychedelics may have been instrumental to the rise of Christianity, and why despite writing one of the most acclaimed books on psychedelics, Brian himself has never tried them. They dive into the mantra, “to die before you die means you don’t die when you die” and why it may be the secret to a lifetime of happiness. Brian’s debut book “The Immortality Key” explores pharmacological influence dating back to ancient times, impacting religion and even many of the scriptures we are all familiar with. His book argues that the use of psychedelics may have been instrumental to the development of many modern religions as we know them. Brian, a Georgetown Law graduate, also became the founding executive director of Doctors for Cannabis Regulation. Their work has been featured on CNN, ESPN, as well as The Washington Post and San Francisco Chronicle. Brian has also been practicing law internationally for fifteen years. Jon Hopkins, a highly acclaimed musician and electronic music producer, joins Ronan from across the pond to discuss the inspiration and creative process for his new record “Music for Psychedelic Therapy,” his own journey with psychedelic medicine, posthumously collaborating with Ram Dass, and more! Jon’s works have been Grammy and Mercury Prize nominated, he has done film scoring, and has collaborated with the likes of Brian Eno, Imogen Heap, Coldplay, Purity Ring, and previous Field Tripping guest East Forest. “Music for Psychedelic Therapy” (which is out now, available at https://smarturl.it/MFPT/) signifies a seeming departure from Jon’s trajectory as a more techno/club-centered act. The album’s first single, Sit Around the Fire, features the words of Ram Dass from a 1970’s recording as well as contributions from collaborator East Forest. To check out the music mentioned by Jon in this episode, visit:www.instagram.com/mattheis_www.ishq.orgFeel free to leave Ronan a message with your comments, questions, or just to say hello! https://www.speakpipe.com/fieldtripping or write us an email at fieldtripping@kastmedia.com.
