We tackle the big question "How do I start?”. Unleash your potential and spark your passion for entrepreneurship with our in-depth discussion about how to get started with your business!  It's time to step back, reflect on your past experiences, and gather those gems that could shine in your entrepreneurial journey. It could be a job you loved, a hobby you couldn't get enough of, or even a relationship that sparked a unique interest in you. Remember, there's no one-size-fits-all in entrepreneurship. Even if your passion eludes you, there's always something to invest in, and we're here to guide you through that process. Navigating the rocky path of entrepreneurship often comes with setbacks, but what if we told you that failure is not the end? Rather, it's a stepping stone to your success! We dedicate a portion of our conversation to 'failing forward', underscoring the necessity of resilience in the entrepreneurial world. As we tackle this topic we remind you of the value in learning from your mistakes, and underscore the crucial role of determination in your venture's success. Moreover, we dive into the world of social media - your tool and your battlefield. We share our opinions on how to choose the best platform for your business, overcome your fear of posting and deal with criticism. In the end, it boils down to two things: embracing failure and finding a community. The fear of failure is a common setback for many, but we're here to tell you that it shouldn't hold you back. Failure is simply a learning tool, and each setback is just a setup for a comeback. And while your journey is unique, it doesn't have to be lonely. Building a supportive community is paramount. It's not about relying solely on family and friends, but about finding like-minded individuals who can join you in this journey, share your victories, and lift you up in times of defeat. Join us and let's learn together! In this episode of the "MaYapinion" podcast, host Maya introduces the shift in focus for the show. Over the past few months, the show has been about leadership for women, but with Maya now deep into her entrepreneurial journey, she has decided to change the focus of the show to entrepreneurship for women. Maya explains that this change has come as a result of her own experiences as an entrepreneur, and the realization that there are very few resources available to help women succeed in this field. She believes that by sharing her journey and the experiences of other successful women entrepreneurs, she can provide valuable insights and inspiration to women who are starting their own businesses. Maya emphasizes that entrepreneurship is not just about starting a business, but it's also about having the courage to take risks, the determination to succeed, and the resilience to overcome obstacles. She shares some of the challenges she has faced as an entrepreneur, including finding funding, building a team, and navigating the legal and regulatory requirements of starting a business. The host also highlights the importance of mentorship and support in the entrepreneurial journey. She stresses that having someone to bounce ideas off of, receive feedback from, and learn from can make a big difference in the success of a business. In conclusion, Maya states that she is excited about this new chapter in the show and hopes that it will serve as a platform for women entrepreneurs to connect, learn, and grow their businesses. She encourages her listeners to reach out to her and share their own experiences and challenges as entrepreneurs.

Welcome Jamie Barlett to the MaYapinion® Podcast this week. She founded PolyPay in 2013 to provide businesses with a partner who offers them honesty, transparency, customer support and savings for merchant processing. She draws on her experience in consulting, finance, HR, technology and leadership development every day at PolyPay.  She is originally from Bloomfield Hills, Michigan and attended Wellesley College earning a degree in English and Economics. She also received an MBA from Pepperdine University.  Jamie loves interacting with customers and learning more about how they started their business and what is important to them.  She lives in Arroyo Grande, California and Columbus, Ohio with her sixteen-year-old rescued Yorkie Spike. A bit more on PolyPay, which is a woman owned payment processing provider serving businesses in over 15 states.  We provide them with the ability to take credit card payments no matter what type of business they have, whether they are a brick and mortar business, an ecommerce business or a mobile business. Leadership in Jamie's words: "A leader is someone who is willing to take risks, take care of their customer and provide an excellent and growth oriented environment for their employees.  They also must be willing to share their experiences with their employees, be open to delegating and give back to their industry, their employees and their community. They must also be a good mentor. I feel I embody all of that description."  We absolutely agree here at MaYapinion® and loved having Jamie share her journey. Jamie says "I came from many years in the corporate world and never thought I would start my own business.  But I did!" Brown's company.  The mission of this company is to empower mid-career professional women with information about themselves and equip them with the tools to translate this knowledge into goals and strategies that will allow them to be happy, successful, and experience less stress at work.  We provide training on "self-coaching," and a personalized book called the Book of You® that is completely personalized to the reader based off a world-class personality assessment called the Birkman Method®.  The podcast The KTS Success Factor® Podcast for Women brings to its audience in each episode one actionable idea female business leaders can use to increase their capabilities, commitment, and confidence to pursue and achieve big business goals. Here's what Dr. Sarah thinks about leadership in her own words, "Being a leader means taking 100% responsibility for all that you are in charge of leading.  In companies, “leaders” do not do all the work, but they are 100% responsible for the work that gets done.  If the results are not what the leader or the company wants, the leader is 100% responsible for figuring out why and fixing it. The same is true in my life.  I am 100% responsible for my life and my results.  I cannot waste time on blaming and complaining.  If I am not happy with an aspect of my life, it is my responsibility to change it." Welcome Kristin Slink, the founder and CEO of TechAF, this week to the podcast. Here's more about Kristin in her own words: Hi, I’m Kristin and I've supported hundreds of underrepresented founders to incubate and launch their tech business. Are you next? $147 billion in venture capital was invested in US startups in just the first half of 2021. Black founders received only 1.2% of those investments. Let's change that. Tech AF is a movement. We’re sick of that status quo. The tech industry needs more diversity. It needs a lower tech-bro-ratio. It needs more people with different life experiences, backgrounds, gender-identities, skin colors, abilities, and perspectives. Resources exist for underestimated founders, but require you to have a product in the market with paying customers. Getting to this stage is HARD. Especially if you've never done it before. I've been in the trenches myself. At 27, I taught myself everything I needed to know to build my first tech business. Of course, I made a ton of mistakes along the way. But plenty of incredible people pushed me, too. More importantly, I refused to take no for an answer and blazed my own path. I went head first into a ten year journey that resulted in raising more than $55M in funding and going through the experience of having that business acquired, twice. Since then I’ve advised and supported hundreds of underrepresented founders through a variety of Atlanta's leading startup programs. Many of these founders have gone on to raise venture capital and implement growth strategies for scale. With Tech AF, I've developed a proprietary five-part system based on my unique experience that streamlines the path from idea to a fundable business. If you have a scalable tech idea and don’t know what to do next - apply today and let's talk! Nina in her own words: My life has been an exploration of how to best serve what I most love, while cultivating myself to grow into who I believe and sense I was born to be. This has involved lots of exploration and a path that’s quite self-made, and as I’ve explored how to shed self-limiting conditioning and cultivate leadership flourishing by cofacilitating retreats for women leaders who were diverse in every way, those women and experiences have grown me. I’ve partnered with a very strong-willed and brilliant man, which has required me to step up my game on every level. I’ve reached a place in my own life where I’ve created the life, leadership, love and creativity I always wanted, and I want the joys of that integrated life to be reachable for every woman and girl. And I believe the future of our species - and life on Earth - may depend upon it.  Visit Nina Simons here: https://www.ninasimons.com/ https://bioneers.org/ Grab her book here Find her on Social Media: www.facebook.com/Bioneers https://www.facebook.com/nina.simons Instagram: @bioneers & @1ninasimons  Twitter: @bioneers & @ninabioneers LinkedIn:  Linkedin.com/company/bioneers  Linkedin.com/in/nina-simons Check out the website for more info on the podcast: https://mayapinionpodcast.com/ Download the "How to be The Leader of Your Life" Guide Here: https://www.subscribepage.com/howtobetheleaderofyourlife

Through workshops, seminars and her signature coaching program, Becca works with individuals and organizations to create sustainable change by training them to thrive from the inside out without the cost of compromise.    In addition to being an executive life coach with specialties in shadow beliefs and trauma awareness, she’s also a Kundalini yoga teacher, and incorporates many holistic modalities into her coaching practice.  In 2021 she released her best-selling book, Harness Your Inner CEO - Rise into Passion, Prosperity, and Empowerment to increase her ability to help others become the CEOs of their own lives.   Becca currently resides in South Florida with her husband Jeremy and their 4 children. Becca in her own words, "I became the CEO of my own life by taking charge of my journey. Through prioritizing my mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual health I was able to reassess what was important to me and found out that success, health, and happiness can co-exist, if you put your own needs first. I learned the hard way through working myself into chronic health conditions that there is a formula to living a life that thrives both personally and professionally. By shifting focus and applying this formula: "The Self + The Soul + The Success = Success Without Sacrifice" to my life I became more successful yet had more time to do the things I love. This ultimately changed my life's trajectory, resulting in an epic transformation that allowed me to truly become the CEO of my own life and start living a life I love! I'm now able to share my journey and the lessons learned as a motivational personal empowerment guide that gives others the tools they need to become the CEO of their own life."
