She has worked as a reporter since the 1970s. She has also been a correspondent on CBS News' true crime show 48 Hours since 1990. Moriarty has reported on thousands of crime stories over the decades. Each season of My Life of Crime with Erin Moriarty groups relevant episodes together. One season's theme was Everybody Lies. That season's episodes focused on crimes involving lies. He denies everything, despite a jury convicting him of the murder.

Hunter Grissom's wife murdered him, although she claimed it was a case of self-defense. One episode talks about the crime. In the following episode, Moriarty interviews Tracey Grissom to get her explanation for the killing. It is fascinating to hear these points of view.
