It's time to welcome in 2024 with a typical horror-thriller film that isn't strong enough to release in the summer or fall. Cooper really has it as a director, presenting a mesmerizing biopic focused on the complicated relationship between Bernstein and his devoted wife Felicia. A wonderful sporting achievement is competently relayed here by George Clooney but with a disappointing lack of personality. Hayao Miyazaki returns, 10 years after his semi-autobiographical previous final feature which led him into a lengthy hiatus. In what many believed would now be Miyazaki's new final film before retirement, the legendary animation director tackles blending the real life grief of a boy who loses his mother in World War II with a fantastical story about an artistic creator passing the torch. Damian Wayne, at his most adorable ever, tries to save Christmas from a classic rouges gallery of Batman villains in order to prove to his father that he's ready for superhero work.
